The plant in Cuxhaven currently provides jobs for more than 1,000 people, over 870 of whom are permanent colleagues. The three main components of the nacelle - hub, generator and backend - are assembled in three production lines and then joined together and "married" in the so-called "marriage" line.
The finished turbines then wait in the directly adjacent port, visible from afar, for onward transportation by special ship. From there, they are transported to the respective installation ports, where they are delivered to the wind farms together with the towers and rotor blades.
Nacelles for 14 MW offshore wind turbines are currently being manufactured in Cuxhaven. One of these turbines alone, with a rotor diameter of 222 m, will be able to cover the annual demand for clean energy for more than 14,000 households on the high seas.
