In order to be included in the Yearbook, companies must be in the top 15% of their industry and achieve an S&P Global ESG score that is within 30% of the best in their sector. Siemens Gamesa ranks 4th of 409 companies within the Machinery and Electrical Equipment industry with an overall ESG rating score of 79/100. Moreover, the company is an index component of the Dow Jones Sustainability World and Europe Indexes.
The 2021 edition of the Yearbook is the result of the analysis of 61 different industries and a detailed assessment of over 7,000 companies, for which over 7 million data points were collected. The results of this assessment help investors identify companies that are optimally addressing the opportunities and risks of the global sustainability challenge.
Manjit Jus, Global Head of ESG Research, S&P Global: “We congratulate Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy on its INDUSTRY MOVER Award in The Sustainability Yearbook 2021, which showcases the best performing companies among industry peers and in terms of financially material ESG metrics. Companies within the top 15% of each industry that participated in the Corporate Sustainability Assessment last year and this year, achieved an improvement in their S&P Global ESG Score of at least five percent, and achieved the strongest improvement in their industry, are awarded an Industry Mover distinction.
"Inclusion in the 2021 Sustainability Yearbook signals that our company is among the best prepared in our industry to meet global and future challenges and is certainly an affirmation of our commitment to long-term value creation and continuous improvement in our environmental, social and governance performance," said Beatriz Puente, CFO of Siemens Gamesa.
