Siemens Gamesa has landed its maiden order1 from the Turkish investor Sancak Enerji for the supply of 118 MW at two wind farms in the region of Konya. Moreover, it marks the first order for the supply of turbines from the 3.3-MW platform in Europe. This new platform is designed to minimise the cost of energy across a wide variety of sites.
Siemens Gamesa will supply 20 of its G132-3.3 MW turbines (66 MW) at the Baglar wind farm and another 16 turbines (52 MW) of the same make at the Ardicli facility, both of which are being developed in Konya. Delivery of the turbines is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2018 with the facilities slated for commissioning in 2019. The company will also provide both facilities' operation and maintenance services for five years.
The nacelles for these 36 turbines will be assembled at Siemens Gamesa's factory in Ágreda (Soria, Spain), while the towers and blades will be made in Turkey using local suppliers, thereby accomplishing a high level of local content at both projects.
Offering the most compelling cost of energy in its segment, the G132-3.3 MW, to be installed at both facilities, guarantees maximum output at medium and medium-low wind speed sites. This turbine comes in four different tower heights, ranging from 84 to 134 metres, so that it can be tailored for each region's specific requirements and wind ranges.
Siemens Gamesa has installed over 550 MW of its turbines in Turkey since entering this market for the first time in 2010.
