MEADOW will deploy innovative technologies and processes in the wind turbine itself at product level, as well as in the manufacturing, pre-assembly and installation processes. It will build on Siemens Gamesa’s extensive track record in the development of offshore wind turbines, implementing cutting-edge capabilities in its facilities in Germany and Denmark.
Within its first ten years of operation, MEADOW’s wind turbines are expected to generate enough renewable electricity to cover the annual consumption needs of more than 4 million average German households, avoiding more than 18.8 million tonnes of CO₂ equivalent.
The project will contribute to the supply of secure, sustainable and affordable electricity to citizens and the economy. It will help keep Europe at the forefront of global industry and technology leadership, aligning with policy priorities such as the European Green Deal and the Net-Zero Industry Act, while enabling the rapid scale-up of renewable energy capacity and supporting climate neutrality by 2050.
By validating more efficient and higher-capacity turbines, the project helps accelerate the deployment of offshore wind farms, increasing clean energy generation and reducing reliance on fossil fuels. Moreover, the project contributes to the Net-Zero Industry Act’s goal of strengthening Europe’s domestic clean-tech manufacturing base and strategic autonomy.
MEADOW will further strengthen the wind industry’s value chain across Europe. It will contribute to the economic development of regional wind energy clusters and boost direct and indirect employment in related sectors in Denmark and Germany.
