The SG 2.9-129 wind turbine is the latest Siemens Gamesa onshore turbine developed to meet the medium- to low-wind site and market conditions of the American market. To deliver the lowest Cost of Energy and maximize performance across various sites in the US, the SG 2.9-129 is designed with the higher capacity factor for our customers demand. This new model enhances our wind turbine catalog by demonstrating our ability to offer flexible solutions for every context.
Technological Highlights
The nacelle is specifically designed to make the moving parts of the geared turbine easier to reach, helping to lower service costs and reduce work time. The fully enclosed asynchronous generator features a squirrel-cage rotor without slip rings, to extract the maximum energy yield.
As an aerodynamic blade add-on, DinoTails® Next Generation reduces the sound power levels by using a serrated trailing edge mounted at the blade and adding finer combs in between the teeth. This world-leading noise reduction technology enables us to create value for our customers by maximizing AEP and reducing the LCoE in sites with noise constraints.
The development of IntegralBlade® technology enables each reinforced fiberglass blade to be cast in one piece. This process eliminates weaker areas at glue joints and delivers blades of optimum quality, strength and reliability.
Turbine sensors continuously transmit data to the Siemens Gamesa Diagnostic Center, enabling the early detection of anomalies and preventing potential failures. By analyzing vibration patterns we can optimize your service plan and anticipate repairs before serious damage occurs.
The pioneering RecyclableBlade is an option based on our proven IntegralBlade® technology and manufacturing follows the exact same process with only a change of resin. The new resin is as strong and reliable as before, but with added recyclability benefits. After reaching end-of-life and decommissioning the blade materials can be separated and recycled in new applications.
GreenerTower is an option, which focuses on achieving significant CO2 equivalent reductions in the steel plate production for steel towers. For the GreenerTower, a maximum of 0.7 tons of CO2 equivalent emissions are permitted per ton of steel. This means a CO2 reduction on the tower steel plates of at least 63% compared to conventional steel production.
