Onshore wind energy for a cleaner planet
Today, the critical need for sustainable sources of energy has become a pressing global issue. Over the last few decades, onshore wind power has emerged as the favored solution, and has developed into one of the most valued sources of renewable energy worldwide.
By 2020, onshore wind power could prevent 975 million tons of CO₂ emissions per annum. The maturity of the industry, alongside further innovation-led cost reductions, will pave the way for this. Importantly, onshore wind power contributes to local economies and creates jobs, with projects being developed by an increasingly diverse range of interest groups, from private individuals to large corporations. As high demand continues, considerable technological advances have been made. As a result, onshore wind has become one of the most competitive and cost-effective renewable energy sources, with 520 GW installed globally at the end of 2017.

Siemens Gamesa to supply clean wind power to Texas
The G132-3.465 MW wind turbine features an output of 3.465 megawatts and a rotor diameter of 132 meters, making it one of the most efficient and cost-effective solutions for medium wind sites.

In January 2018, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy signed two orders in the U.S. to supply 95 of our G132-3.465 MW wind turbines totaling 330 MW. Once both wind farms are completed, they will produce enough energy to power over 100,000 average U.S. homes.

At one of the two projects, Siemens Gamesa will supply 47 G132-3.465 MW wind turbines for the Midway Wind project, located in San Patricio County, Texas. The project was awarded by Apex Clean Energy and recently acquired by Sammons Renewable Energy. The order also includes a 10-year, full scope service and maintenance agreement, and is expected to be completed in late 2018. Once installed, the Midway project increases Siemens Gamesa's presence in Texas to over 2,000 wind turbines, totaling more than 4 GW across more than 30 projects.

With more than 150 project sites across 32 U.S. states and its territories, Siemens Gamesa has installed more than 17 GW in the U.S., enough energy to power over five million average homes.
